Christmas Candy Box

Grouped together they make a cute Christmas scene!
This past year my Rotary Club kept up the tradition we set last year of doing a Progressive Dinner for our Christmas/Holiday party.  I wanted to give all the hosts a little something as a thank you and decided to do these little treat boxes.
I copied the template for these boxes from one I made at a class.  The instructor had used an SU die which had to be much easier than cutting out four of them like I did these!!  I still had fun doing the project and the hosts all appreciated them.

Card Swap

My favorite store Memories of Time is having a card-swap.  There will be a maximum of 6 people involved.  Each will make a card and then make 5 kits with instructions and materials for the others to make.  The trick is to be able to put it together in 15 - 20 minutes.   I just love the Penny Black kitties so I used "Cat on the Moon".  I stamped the image on the star paper (thanks for the idea Tam!), stamped in again on white, colored, and then fussy cut it. I colored some silver metal stars with a copic marker.  I made 5 kits which will go together in the alotted time!

Wedding Anniversary

My son and his wife celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary at the end of September.  They are a  nice, modern, handsome couple who enjoy doing a lot of things.  They spent their anniversary at the coast this year, hiking, taking photos and just getting away from the normal every day routine. I created this cute card with a Penny Black stamp.  I used various papers I had and of course, colored the image with Copic markers.

Brother Birthday

My big brother is a farmer and or logger at heart! He's been clearing land that my Dad had planted as Christmas trees which over the years grew into quite the forest!  With the land he's cleared my brother has planted grapes - he's starting a vineyard!!  What fun - the family says the old barn should be his tasting room when he's all finished!  But he says to slow down - he's doing things as he goes along and doesn't have huge plans.  He just loves doing it!

He has an excavator to help do the heavy work, but he has a tractor to do smaller jobs.  I found this neat tractor stamp from Our Craft Lounge that I like a LOT, found some neat paper from my stash that I got from my favorite craft store, Memories of Time, did some cutting and quilling, and voila - I have a birthday card for my brother!!!

Memories

A few weeks ago my brother, sister, and I had a chance to visit our Aunt and Uncle who had just moved into a retirement village.  They've always been one of my favorite couples as they've gone through life and for such wonderful people, they've seen more than their share of tribulations.  When going to their home throughout the years, it has been warm and welcoming, and visiting their new home is no different.  They have cherished items including a painting of my Mother's and several lighthouses.  They always loved going to the coast as they live inland where it gets very warm and the decorations always have reminded them of the cool breezes and beautiful sights.  I've thought about them every day since we visited and I don't want them thinking I've forgotten about them.
After I snapped these pictures I added the sentiment "You're never more than a thought away" from the SU set " Whimsical Words".  I used the tutorial for the Sailor's Knot from Paper Pursuits.

Pablo Graduation

Pablo is a Rotary exchange student from Spain.  It has been the honor and pleasure of my Rotary Club to host him, mentor him, and enjoy him while he's been here in America!  He has grown so much in his understanding of people, his skill with the English language has grown immensely, and he has truly become our own child and our friend!
One of the culminating events of his year here was his graduation from high school.  He's only 16 years old, so what a great accomplishment for him!  He will be returning home in just about a week, and we're going to miss him, his smile, and his humor!  I'm sure we will continue to be part of his life once he return's to Spain because he is now a member of our family!

Grandson's 8th Grade Graduation

Card closed
It's hard to believe, but my Grandson just graduated from the 8th grade!  He's such a great guy and a great student, too!  He received awards for his work in Science and History.  His history teacher says "Brendan has the knack for asking the right questions at the right time"!   Following the end of school he was fortunate enough to be able to go on the 8th Grade history trip to Washington D.C. and New York City.  The itinerary is amazing - I wish I could have tagged along!!!
In honor of and congratulations for his accomplishments I made this graduation card.  I used SU's "Go Graduate" stamp set, which you just have to love!  I also googled his school, printed the mascot, cut him out, and adhered it to the card which I cut from SU Garden Green which matches his school colors.  The card idea is one I got from a Splitcoaststampers tutorial called Grad Hat Fun Fold Card http://dostamping.typepad.com/dostamping_with_dawn/2010/06/grads-dads-grad-hat-fun-fold-card.html  The part I loved best?  The tassel..which was very easy!!

Neighbor's Birthday

Cute!
Our neighbors have a really nice family!  When one of them have a birthday they have a huge taco feed.  I am lucky enough to be invited when they do this.  Today is Russ's birthday celebration so I found my cute stamp set "Slow & Steady" by Our Craft Lounge and created this cute card.  The paper I used is the prize I received for a challenge over at my favorite craft store in the whole world, Memories of Time.

Sympathy

Recently we were notified about the passing of one of my husbands friends.  His friend Dick was his teacher in high school.  They became friends and kept in touch throughout the years.  We exchanged Christmas Cards and each time my husband visited his home back in Massachusetts, he was sure to visit him. They would have lunch or meet at his home. The last time I was there I met him for the first time and could see why Michael and he were so fond of each other.  He was a very special man! I don't keep this kind of card around "just in case" and thankfully I don't have to make them too often, so I started looking for ideas.  I always look to my friend Tammie for inspriation - her cards are always so great - not sure there is anyone who can color as well as she does!!!  Keeping in mind that imitation is the best form of flattery, I used her idea for this card. You can see her blog at http://onehappystamper-tammiee.blogspot.com/

Son's Birthday

I even stamped the envelope
My son Ryan is my baby.  My baby is all grown up, not quite as old as Gramps here, though!!??
Ryan is a son that anyone would be proud of, and I don't say that just because he's my son - everyone who knows him says that!!!
Ryan has always loved to play golf, but as with a lot of us, doesn't get the time to play as often as he would like.  So, I thought that using Golfin' Gramps by OCL would be the perfect theme!  He loved it!!  As always I  get all of my supplies at myfavorite store Memories of Time!

Grandson Brendan's 14th Birthday Card

It seems as if it were yesterday that my Grandson Brendan was born, but he just had his 14th birthday.  He's growing into a nice, polite young man and I'm really proud of him!   Where did the time go?!  I'm happy that as of yet he still looks forward to visiting for a couple of weeks each summer.  He told me last year that he didn't think he'd ever get tired of coming to our house!!  Warmed my heart, it did for sure!!

Baby Boy Card

Two of my friends were due have new babies, one in January and one in February.  Using this adorable giraffe by Stampendous which I picked up at my favorite craft store Memories of Time I made cards for both a boy and a girl.  When I had kids we found out what our baby was when we had them, but these days  parents can know months ahead if they choose.  Since I never had the choice, I'm not sure what I would do now - how 'bout you?  Would you want to know or be surprised?!

In my last entry I showed the thank you gift I gave each of the hosts at my Rotary club's Progressive Dinner.   Well, we didn't have to drive between each of the homes, but we had vans and drivers taking us between each place.  These little milk jugs are the thank you gifts I gave to the three drivers who helped us out.

Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken Pot Pie in a Christmas Theme
My neighbor asked me to make a card that she could give to her niece for Christmas.  Her niece is one of my stamping friends so I just had to make a card she would like!!!  My neighbor BeckySue said it needed to be something that would say what her present was when she looked at it.  What was the present?  Home made Chicken Pot Pies!!  What a unique gift!  I thought about the stamps I have that I could use.  I brought out SU Country Morning and used the chicken from that.  I wondered what I could use for the pie and found my OCL set Life's A Picnic.  I stamped the image of the ants eating the pie, made some minor adjustments to take the ant out of the stamped image, then cut out the pie.  The inside was decorated with a the same paper and a chick & egg stamped image.  Rishia loved her present but before she even read the message inside said "Becky made this!"

Amy's Birthday

My daughter's birthday is just after the new year.  I've always tried to make her birthday special for a couple of reasons: it so closely follows the holidays and because she is and always will be my little girl!
I subscribe to Splitcoast Stampers Weekly Inkling and when I was sent #292 I just had to make it and the timing was perfect!  The Double Dutch Fold tutorial was easy to follow and therefore easy to do.
I used several types of ink, stamps, and papers.

Bride and Groom (Winner for Memories of Time Challenge)

Right after the holidays we received a wedding invitation from our nephew in Connecticut.  It was beautiful in purples and lattice and vellum.  We aren't able to attend, but I want to make a card to congratulate the happy couple.  When I make a wedding card I always like to use some of the paper from the invitation.  There were two different colors of purple on the lattice and the vellum which coordinated perfectly with SU CS Perfect Plum and also the Copic colors I used to color the image I stamped from the OCL set Bride and Groom.I entered this card in the Memories of Time scrapbook challenge.  Who knows, maybe a card can be done in a scrapbook layout!!!

The inside needs to be pretty too!
